The biggest reason our democracy is empirically in decline is because Republicans are paying very little electoral price for supporting our authoritarian president. Do you see anything in electoral politics that would lead to a permanent change in the attitude of Republican politicians, like public apologies for supporting racism and the Jan. 6 coup attempt. Or are is our democracy going to continue to decline into the 2030s.
What exactly has to happen for the reconciliation process to be used and is this a sure way to get something passed? Thanks
