The biggest reason our democracy is empirically in decline is because Republicans are paying very little electoral price for supporting our authoritarian president. Do you see anything in electoral politics that would lead to a permanent change in the attitude of Republican politicians, like public apologies for supporting racism and the Jan. 6 coup attempt. Or are is our democracy going to continue to decline into the 2030s.
Trump said our military is “rarin’ to go” with regard to Iran if Iran doesn’t adhere to Trump’s demands. What do the generals think of our foray into Iran?
Historically speaking, has there been a strong connection between high gas prices and incumbent election losses? Both Republicans and Democrats seem very sensitive to this issue. I remember Biden draining the strategic petroleum reserve in a vain attempt to lower prices and get re-elected.
Part of this is not correct. The big drawdown of the SPR under Biden was in 2022, in response to the spike in prices after Russia invaded Ukraine. Perhaps an attempt to influence the midterms, but not his reelection.
But the question about relationships between gas prices and elections is a good one.

What exactly has to happen for the reconciliation process to be used and is this a sure way to get something passed? Thanks
