Although I too am generally interested in the “rule of law”, I also have an interest in facts and “burdens of proof.” Now that these alleged gang members (on flimsy evidence) are back in Venezuela, is there any evidence that they are gang members? are they as “safe” as other Venezuelans? (given that they probably also had flimsy asylum claims?)

When a judge appointed by a Democrat hammers away for much of a three-hour hearing asking one-sided “gotcha” questions or a Republican appointed judge comes “to the defense” of one side “vocally” in an “exasperated manner , the respect for the court system (or the independent judiciary as I like to think of it) is chipped away. Like it or not Judge Pillard, that respect is the “flimsy” foundation upon which our rule of law stands.
I am sure Judge Boasberg is personally sorely offended and perhaps rightfully so. But judges make poor investigators. (SEE SCOTUS-Dodd leak) Someone near and dear to the judge (Barry O?) should tell him to have a beer and knock it off.
My father-in-law, now judging cases in the great court room in the sky) used to call those "emergency hearings" (Saturday night at 5 PM?) productive of Coney Island justice.
