You nailed it today Gabe. The fact that congress would capitulate to Trump even with the possibility of a depression tells me all I need to know about the current crop of republican congressmen and of course Fox News…Trump did not negotiate and I think it’s a huge mistake that the market moves 5 % on the headlines of one man. Read James Carville’s quote about the bond market and you will understand what happened.

Piro is just too proud or ideological to admit we are not heading in the right direction. It’s scary

Did Trump cross the line on telling people to buy stock right before he backed down from tariffs? Is this the same thing that caused Martha Stewart to go to federal prison?

No. Martha Stewart was not convicted of insider trading. She was convicted of lying to the FBI (or James Comey).

I believe he did cross a line... In the private or corporate sector, "pump and dump" is a sick process in our stock/bond/currency market based economy. You trump up the value of a stock by leaking some false, huge break through or advance then at the peak you 'dump' [sell your shares]. Trump reverses that approach with "trash and dash" (sink markets with crazy proposals [buy] then flipflop and bathe them rise [sell].

That quote from Gabe is one of his best. So glad you emphasized it.

There are a lot of people who are now permanently hurt financially because of Trump’s shenanigans. They sold as the market was falling and didn’t know to buy back in at the bottom because they had no idea it was the bottom. Most likely these folks are mad as hell. The bond market response is very interesting. Have Trump and his advisers forgotten that China holds an awful lot of US debt? Retaliation here could be savage.

Because he's a Dumbass Gabe.

Well, well, well. Turns out Turdbucket Trump isn't such a tough guy after all. After watching the markets crash and burn like his Atlantic City casinos, our fearless leader just pissed his economic pants and hit the reverse button on nearly all his tariffs.

Gabe, you said, “Perhaps it’s better to move fast than to move deliberately, but it keeps seeming to impair their own agenda (unless, of course, the agenda is attention).” I think the entire agenda is about attention! Trump craves it. I’m not a politician or political analyst, but I think that is a horrible platform from which to govern - maybe that is an understatement at this point. We are becoming the laughing stock of the world.

And P.S. Gabe, you are so thoughtful and careful and you take the high road when you report on Trump. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I admire that greatly. However, I’ll also say that Trump and this administration is just not worthy of such gentle reporting.

In 89 days...unless he changes his mind again. And yes, please do keep an eye on the blatant market manipulation. Trump was caught in the Oval on a hot mic bragging about two people standing next to him who made buckets of money because they bought when he Truthed that it was a good time to buy, a few hours before he put a hold on the tariffs that tanked the market. Nothing fishy going on there, huh?

Bitch, bitch, bitch! Why not wait to see how Trump's agenda pans out for at least the end of 2025 before whipping to death everything that he does/says.

Do we want to go back to the SWAMP telling us what we can do/say and the bureaucracy that has been wasting our tax dollars for umpteen years.

Americans are hurting. Americans are protesting. Why are our representatives in power not standing up to him. My daughter is a single mom of three little kids, a college degree and a good job with Head Start that she loves. Thanks to a drug-addict ex- there is no child support. She depends on the government for childcare and healthcare assistance. Everything she relies on is on the chopping block, and I know she’s not alone. A government “for the people” is a joke. Why is DJT able to get away with ruining lives with absolutely impugnity? Why won’t they stop him?

I've been saying that this is a big stick manipulation since he first put the tarrifs on. Why has it taken a week for the press to get it.
