Gabe, unrelated question for this week from me: is the VP’s prominence in trips, press conferences, etc. because the Trump White House assumes he’ll succeed Trump as president or because Trump is so busy redesigning the White House, or a different reason?
A well-functioning Dem part would not have voted for any Trumplican nominee ever. And going forward, we should be at war with the nutless deplorable party of the Trump Cabal.
And, win both houses in 2026. We should be in a position before 2028 to impeach TRUMP and negligent dunce cabinet.
It is fascinating that in the case of multiple nominees now, they were still presented despite identifying as a Nazi, representing / supporting January 6th insurrectionists, (allegedly) engaging in gross sexual misconduct (or crimes with a minor) or presenting as a racist and/or xenophobe.
It seems that these aren’t seen as character faults or failures by the Executive Branch staff but rather as suitable criteria to be entrusted with governmental power and authority.
I mean, “Hi, I’m a Nazi”… and the response is “Oh, okay! What are your salary requirements?” Who has that reaction to that sort of statement???
Or is this a strategy that is meant to shield (or elevates?) the nominally incompetent choices to the the level of acceptable.
So many distractions...some feel they are to draw attention away from The Epstein Files. I'm worried that we've all become distracted from global warming and the associated volatile weather, fires, sea level rise, calving of ice packs, species disruption, etc. All so "business as usual" can carry on.
Gabe, have the works of congress taken any steps toward addressing our planet's warming issues?
Gabe--thanks for a fascinating article and set of data points. I assume, under the new Senate rules, "blue slips" are a thing of the past? I am also curious how many of the four-stars forced out early in the administration were confirmed to retire in that rank--from what I have read, they have, but I can't find a reliable source for that. As you know, folks in three- and four-star ranks (o- and O-10) require confirmation to retire at that rank--the last permanent military grade is two stars (O-8).
