Might suggest mentioning the Epstein-class global sexploitation scandal EVERY time the war is mentioned.
As in, ‘the Epstein obfuscation war’, or ‘the Epstein obfuscation war with Iran’, or ‘the Epstein obfuscation wars with Venezuela and Iran’, … Cuba, Nigeria, Greenland, Canada, … or ‘the Epstein Sexploitation World War’.
Just so we don’t forget we’re sending our kids to die, to keep a sexual predator felon from being impeached a 3rd and final time. Who the hell is still defending this??
I feel like I'm living in some sort of alternate reality where those supporting the war - in any branch of our government are following a leader whose speech and policies show no connection with reality. What am I missing
A farmer is fed up with a thief stealing from his apple orchard every night. To put a stop to it, he places a sign in front of the massive pile of harvested apples:
"WARNING: One of these apples has been injected with a lethal poison."
The next morning, the farmer walks out and sees that not a single apple has been stolen. He smiles, feeling pretty smug—until he notices the thief left a note pinned to the sign:
"Now there are two."
Does any country have the means of sweeping mines? Isn’t it fool hardy for any country dependent on Middle Eastern oil not to help keep the strait clear? Do mines recognize flags?
We saw small fast boats traversing the strait a few years ago. The guide told us they carried weapons etc. from Iran and were allowed to land and stay until dusk on the opposite shores “because Iran is a neighbor and the U.S. is not.”
What amazes me is that Donald Trump is the first leader in history to deploy his nation's armed forces to assassinate the leadership of another nation in peace-time. It's an international criminal act, and he's proud of it. Israel set something of a precedent by assassinating individual leaders of its perceived enemies within the context of armed conflict, so they deserve some of the "credit" for this new breakthrough in what passes for civilized behavior.
America elected a criminal as President, and he's perpetrated an international crime unparalleled in world history. And no one is calling it out for what it is.
I've seen exactly one historian who said it was analogous to murdering the Pope on the steps of the Vatican. Except the RC doesn't have an army and doesn't control the Strait of Hormuz.
Observers, like Ray Dalio, have noted that developments in the war have narrowed the definition of Victory (already proclaimed by He Who Owns This War, Trump) to He Who Controls the Straits of Hormuz. If the US walks away with control, Victoire! If not, Echec. . . (Failure). This would doom the mid-terms and the balance of his presidency. (With his back to the wall, things might get even worse, but that's another story.)
From what has been tweeted and stated, the Administration agrees. This will likely require boots on the ground and time. As of March 13, it was estimated that getting the Marine Expeditionary Unit to the site might take as long as 15 days. That's a long time for Americans to refuel their vehicles and watch the wallets drain. Support for the war, which has been increasing, might reverse course.
Something diversionary may be in order, like ICE busting heads in Burlington, Vt. Who knows? Maybe he launches in Cuba while awaiting the MEU landing? He raised Holy Hell over the SAVE Act and the filibuster. Maybe that will be the big tweet or Faux broadcast.
None of that will impact the stock market. Those folks aren't so easily fooled. They will be pricing the market for long term oil flow interruption. Look out 401ks! MAGAts will enjoy the daily pronouncements of smashed military targets and the advance of Israeli troops into Southern Lebanon, followed by a resuscitated, pesky Hamas, and more naval problems from the Houthis. This is a metastasizing problem that must be terribly hard to predict. Through controlled media and internet, maybe the GOP faithful will stay on board our of patriotism and party loyalty, not exposed to much of that, but awaiting the first big invasion since Afghanistan.
If the Marines were to battle for control of Kharg Island, there might be a truly bloody infantry battle. Iran has 1M trained military combatants and the time to prepare for an invasion. They have mines and, despite the offensive boasting by Hegseth and Trump, sufficient munitions to rebuild in near impenetrable ways a stout defense. They might even use the fear, if not the actual use of dirty bombs. That would be horrendous.
This Trump Owned War isn't going to fade away so quickly. Assuming all that goes in favor of the US and Israel, and anyone else strong-armed to help them, it could take many more weeks to wrap this up with control of the Straits of Hormuz.
And Trump cannot walk away now. He owns this mess.
But I think what is missing here is a deeper dive into with whom Trump is now engaged in combat. This isn't Maduro in his pajamas. This is a deeply entrenched theocracy. The stated beliefs of this government include one that brought us to the war in the first place: the willingness to die for God. Such a death is glorious! With its back to the wall, this theocracy was thought so dangerous on account of nuclear weapons, America felt threatened. At least, that's the MAGA line. No one can deal with a nuclear power connected to the Almighty through its esteemed intermediary, the Ayatollah. If the Ayatollah (now, a leader super pissed off after the Israelis killed his family and wounded him - something you might think would bring him to power with an attitude) divines a message from God to use that atrocious weapon, he will use it and die with the consequences. We would have to live with the unthinkable consequences.
So we went into this conflict with that as our stated goal; we will forever end the threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran's leadership. It was not the Straits of Hormuz, but the refusal to abandon efforts to develop a missile launched nuclear weapon.
So are Dalio and others wrong? Is victory merely possession of Kharg Island and control of the Straits of Hormuz? Or is victory measured in the price of Crude? Once again, are we at war over oil?

He's putting a rather steep hill in regard to turning over the economy to the next generation. Not a legacy, just a boat anchor of debt.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been urging Trump to attack Iran for years
MBS not only got his wish, he gets to stay out of the spotlight while everyone piles on Netanyahu and blames him for everything

The Iran War will end when Trump gets bored, declares victory, and gives in to his next impulse.

Seems like we’re all characters in a Twilight Zone episode.
Interesting that someone was arrested recently for the Jan 5 pipebomv attack on the RNC/DNC. Any thoughts? https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/pr/man-charged-planting-explosive-devices-outside-rnc-and-dnc-january-5-2021
