Can’t Congress find a toxic waste storage area to name after DJT?

Touché. That would be very fitting.

I love these kinds of columns so much more than simply a breathless analysis of the latest scandal or the latest political intrigue, which is what most of the rest of political newsletters offer today (although there is a rightful place for those types of newsletters too when done properly - like Chris Cillizza's analyses). No worries if this change allows you to do only 3 newsletters per week -- much more overall value for the reader over a week from this kind of meaningful, insightful content. Well done, Gabe!

I wish Senator Schumer had offered to rename the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City, the last building in which JeffreyEpstein lived, after the sitting president.

Any chance that H.R.7039 - Stop Executive Renaming for Vanity and Ego (SERVE) Act of 2026 will actually make it out of the House?

Thank you, Mr. Fleischer. Your essay reminded me of an incident very early in djt’s first administration. At an event in Europe, djt pushed the President of Montenegro out of his way as he plowed to the front of the stage. The President of Montenegro saw who pushed him and smiled. Te President of Montenegro seems to have taken stock of djt early on. Modesty and humility are more words djt cannot define.

Reminds me of one of Jesus’ parables:

8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.

11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

If that topic had come up at Charlie Kirk's funeral, like loving-your-enemies did, Tr could have pointed out yet another key area in which he prefers to go in the opposite direction from the way of Christ.

Fun column. No one gets to be President without a well developed ego and most all seem to have been concerned with their legacy however they define it--doesn't seem all that strange that a real estate mogul wants structures. I visited the Carter library. It was apparent from the displays that the Camp David Agreement was a crowning achievement. My visit took place, though, when the Palestinian Framework was collapsing into violence. Maybe airports are a safer bet.

Thank you for this column, which points out that we used to live in a more decent time.

Wasn’t Jerry Ford on the White Wash Warren Commission? And surreptitiously informed the FBI of the Commission’s internal findings?Joined by CIA Director Allen Dulles, architect of the Bay of Pigs fiasco, multiple coups and the MKUltra Program and who got fired by JFK after the Bay of Pigs?

That’s the best ya got?
