Gabe: Old guy here whose mission has been to help train young people in how to effectively play the system. Some Democratic bright lights like Hogg, McMorrow, and Jason Crow give me hope. Anything you can do to help that rising force in the party will be appreciated. As a longtime political operative, teacher, and now columnist for the Marin Independent Journal, I'd be happy to chat anytime online! Mark markpsf@mac.com

Well, he has concepts of 200 deals. I believe one of his peeps (Kevin Hassett?) said that he has 'subdeals' whatever those are. Concepts of deals.

The Art of the Deal is mostly fiction. 6 times bankrupted? Conning people is not deal making. No actual business CEO will stick around. Musk is gone. Bezos is slipping away. Gates, Cook and Buffet never took the bait. That leaves Zuckerberg but we saw the movie. Etc. No actual national leaders except Orban and Netanyahu are now kow towing. Putin, Xi, Carney, Macron, Scheinbaum are ghosting him. With any luck the Republicans will turn on each other.

Clarification Gabe. I was referring to your earlier posting about efforts to unseat Hogg from his DNC position. We should never underestimate the power of Democratic progressives to self-destruct! Let's make sure the light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter, not dimmer! Mark

Gabe, as always your writing is so informative. I don’t know how you can pull so much information together every single day! Do you ever sleep?

Anyway, thank you for sharing your knowledge to help us become better informed citizens.

Not on topic, but what’s your take on what happens now that Trump has admitted that he can bring back Albrego Garcia, but won’t? Most immediately, Judge Xinis’ Stay Order expires today . . .

It’s more than depressing to feel powerless while Trump and his cronies, including congressional republicans dismantle the country I love, while his family profits. Trump is a sociopath without a conscience, his family is corrupt and his cabinet unqualified. There really isn’t anything further to say.

I think the country we love has changed and that is a major factor in Trump's presence. The underlying issue is how this change came about. Certainly, for many, an eroding confidence in 'big'; big government, big business, big health care, etc. has fostered a desire for change. But the increasing amount of screen time combined with the social media algorithms that fuel vitriol and sensationalism has fueled the fear that makes "normal" folks believe lies about "others" and who can save them from "monsters".

Fox News was created by ultra conservative Murdoch for the sole purpose of brainwashing the American people into believing that the rights we have as Americans are bad.

I agree with you in principle. However, the frustration of the working class should be directed, not toward the government, but rather the Republican party. This attitude started with Ronald Reagan and the tea party. Remember Reagan stating and I quote “government is the problem” and this is the same man that lied to Congress selling arms to our enemy to to gain funds to support the Contras

Remember the Democratic Party is responsible for the G.I. bill, Social Security Medicare, the civil rights act and last, but certainly not least Obamacare.

None of our presidents have been perfect. We know that! However, let’s look at the list: Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, Obama. I don’t think the republicans can top it.
