Can we safely say we are no longer headed toward becoming a Fascist country, but are already there?

No, because the majority of the populace disagrees with Trumpism right now.

I liked this comment, but I want to add that we need to also take some action, as our Congress is hamstrung by Republican Representatives and Senators that can't seem to see.

We need the political will to stop/box Trump and I don't see the Republicans - for whatever their reasons - willing to do that.

Trump is and always has been a gutless, arrogant, womanizing rich boy…….and now we see the bullying, unfit, obsessed with power, monster he really is and this monster is the leader of the free world. Journalists need to repeatedly call him out as he is unfit for the presidency

Why didn't, e.g., Susan Wiles, explain to DJT:

- Nominations for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize closed 11 days after your inauguration

- That prize honors actions in 2024 or prior.

- If you complain to the wrong body (government of Norway instead of prize committee), you're hurting your 2026 chances.

Looks like we will need a lesson on "treaties" and when Senate approval is and is not required. Or, maybe the Board of Peace is not a "treaty" and can just be entered into at the President's discretion?

Then, there is the question of where the money goes? For example, if the Board of Peace decides to rent office space or build a building, can it do so at a Trump owned location?

And, does the US have to put $1B in and where does that come from and who pays?

And, are there any restrictions on money that can be paid to Trump as the chair?

"All of this — the threats to invade Greenland, the new tariffs, the $1 billion demand — has created a diplomatic crisis, separating the U.S. from its European allies and threatening to rip NATO apart." Putin couldn't be happier.

Suzie Wiles, through her Vanity Fair interview, somewhat prepared us for this: That her boss has an alcoholic's temperment and thinks he can do anything . . . What I'm seeing more and more is a man who is tipping over the edge of reality, but there seems no way to constrain him. Even the 25th amendment needs an objective consensus from the VP and cabinet. That doesn't seem likely. Impeachment needs a Congress with a spine, also not likely.

I'm very worried about our country's future.

Between the '26 and the '28 elections, based on current polling, we could see U.S. political power handed over to ... Democrats. Thanks, Trump.

All eyes now on the Supreme Court and Congress to start throwing restraints on this accelerating insanity. And shame on any nation that signs on for the Board of Peace. I guess Venezuela will be first in line.

Hi Gabe. I believe that trump is profoundly mentally ill. I think that he has done more to separate families than ever before. That said, I think my family has always been separated. trump just quashed our denial.

THe Boston Globe is a shakey bit of Legacy Media. A poll 3 months old indicates that only 27% OF THE RESPONDENTS have faith in Legacy Media. Let’s turn those numbers around. 73% DO NOT TRUST LEGACY MEDIA.

YOUR RELIANCE UPON AND MINDLESS QUOTATIONS from the Glob ( as we call it in Boston) notwithstanding, your continued blathering provides me with hours of giggles.

Keep up the comedic observations.

The sheer velocity of executive action this year is staggering. Seeing Trump outpace even FDR’s 1933 'First 100 Days' record for executive orders really highlights how the 'legislative gears' have shifted toward the White House.

It’s a huge challenge for anyone trying to track actual policy vs. the headlines. I’ve been trying to 'slow-steep' these developments over at Politi-Cold Brew to see which of these orders are actually hitting the ground and which are tied up in the courts. Great summary, Gabe!

Fiddle, fiddle, fiddle! something..abou t ... R oM e?

* Because all this stuff reported on here happened, and was roundly opposed by all of the Democrat's in Congress, where do our Republican Congressional Representatives think they are living? We should have the power for Congress to put a muzzle on the rabid one...or at least identify shared goals and create better methods for the few things that really might make America a little better.

And to think, we are only in Year 1, with three more years to go. Then Vance/Rubio for eight more!
