They are two different issues, Gabe. Let's not give Moreno a gold star and gatekeep Warren's facial expressions. He's the one that made it polarizing.
If Moreno want to bring a worthwhile bill to the floor he can. He didn't need to whine about nominations that were held up because the candidates were horrendous. Moreno does not care about our lives in Ohio unless it's about transgenderism and he can trample on them more. No matter how controversial, this man will vote for whatever Trump tells him to vote for. Moreno would hold up nominations if it was a Democrat.
This is news I've been waiting for! It's encouraging that there's a proposal that addresses a critical issue in our country. I'm also encouraged by the bipartisan effort. Polical affiliations should be put aside when Congress is working on governing our country. Not going to happen, I know...
An article about bipartisanship working with a key paragraph mentioning an intentional end to bipartisanship in appropriations and nominations? This feels almost like a throwaway paragraph if it weren’t so important, esp for a journalist who prides himself on focusing on the bipartisan. Let’s hear more about this, Gabe!
Newsnation is not a reliable source on housing. The shortage is closer to 10-20M units.
Most conventional outlets — IE not “MSM”, but still basically in the same mold without the stigma of supposed liberal bias — are trapped underestimating the shortage because they don’t want people to treat it like they did climate change and just decide that the big scary numbers mean it’s a hoax.
I think you have put your finger on the key to bipartisanship, close to consensus on the importance of an issue. Maybe there will be some movement on health care? Thank you for providing access to the text of the bill but is there a plain language summary somewhere?
I have just been involved in the aftermath of the flooding that took place in NC after tropical storm Chantal. There is one complex of low income housing that has flooded multiple times in the last several years. Every time a new crop of poor tenants lose everything. I spoke to one tenant who had been there for 6 months. She said she was told things might get wet. Her unit had 18” of water and her car was destroyed. I am going to try to slog through the gobbledygook language to see how these proposal affect that situation which, I am sure, is not unique to NC.
The reason why the housing crisis hasn't been resolved: doing so requires white cities to allow black people to live near them in multi-unit and other dwelling types.
Exactly the kind of law that Trump would be happy to ignore, rescind, and maladminister. It will have no practical impact until a Derm of considerable competence is in control. Another purely notional law just like the rest of the federal budget.
If ever there was a problem caused by government, it's this one. Whether government can actually solve a problem it caused remains to be seen, but there are promising signs in the proposed bills.

Thanks, a refreshing look at Congress for once! Too bad we can’t see it more often.

Such a hopeful news piece, Gabe! And it’s helpful that you humanized the senators for us, too. (Shaheen is my senator. 🙌🏽)
Great reporting, thanks!

No
Yes. It's why suburbs and exurbs do everything they can to keep out multifamily housing

An exciting report - will you please continue to follow it, updating on action or non-action.

Really good reporting on a critical issue for so many Americans. Thanks, Gabe!
If it can keep the unanimous thread going it could get passed, one would hope.
