Do you think the Republicans in Congress have a red line anymore, and if so, what do you think it is? In other words, at what point would they ever push back against Trump? My wife still thinks there is a red line, but I say that ever since January 6th, what could it possibly be?
I suspect it's highly dependant on Trump's popularity, and am curious how Gabe thinks that might influence it. If Trump is net popular I'm not sure there's anything they will oppose, but if he drops to Bush '08 levels they will actually grow something of a spine.
Your reporting is getting stronger and stronger. You are one of the only journalists I can tolerate reading these days. Please keep up the thoughtful, unbiased reporting
The deranged tweet about pulling federal funding from any and all institutions that allow “illegal” protests and masks on university campuses…can he actually do that? What makes a protest illegal if it’s non violent? How can I help educate and protect my students (especially international ones)?
I’ll be on the hill next week advocating for support for some higher education legislation (like financial aid and cost transparency) and it doesn’t feel like enough
Hi Gabe, I’m particularly interested in your take on what I see from this distance as the invisibility of the Democrats. I was discouraged by their performance or lack of unity or something last night. Keep up the very good work- you’ve become my most trusted news source.
I think all the lies and insane acts of the President and his side kick are more of a smokescreen. I don't think they are at all concerned about accountability to begin with. I am more worried about what is going on behind the scenes where attention is not paid. Isn't there more than tax cuts for the wealthy? Aren't they (those engineering this dismantling of Govt institutions and agencies along with the gatekeepers) trying to create something like a shadow or parallel mechanism to which they can funnel funds and control? What is this talk about crypto reserve when so many of the actors in this administration including Trump and his family are right in that crypto sphere?
While the President keeps making scenes and grabbing attention, I'm afraid those who are truly planning for something different for the future is simply vying for time to execute the plan. What are your thoughts along these lines?
Hi Gabe. It seems to me Putin must have some kind of blackmail 'goods' on Trump. Can you think of any likelier explanation for his obsequious behavior relating to Putin? Thanks.
Thanks for asking! Why aren't Senators and House Reps making a bigger deal about President Trump snubbing all of our allies, getting in the middle of Gaza, and not being tougher on Russia? I feel this is our biggest threat right now, Trump's foreign policy major blunders. I half understand the Republicans being silent, but not the Democrats.
Thanks, Gabe. I appreciate your commitment to journalism, not the wild polarized propaganda we get so much of these days.
I'm wondering why the current unemployment numbers are not reported more in the media. They have always been a measure of a successful economy. But with all the government employees being fired, how have the unemployment numbers gone up and why isn't anyone talking about it?
I heard today on local public radio that many of the federal work force firings/lay offs/forced retirement have been found to be illegal. Do those folks stand a chance of getting their jobs back? Is there a centralized legal effort (and if so who are the players) or do individuals pursue wrongful termination suits?
If you have read the article in The Atlantic by Jonathan Rauch re: Trump governing by Patrimonialism what it means and what are the inherent weaknesses of that form of governing. In particular his thoughts on how to develop concise tactics of stopping it. Would love to hear your thoughts
Wow, the fact that you already have so many good questions is really impressive! Mine is very specific, but here goes: would you agree that in assessing why they lost last fall and what the path forward should be, Democrats have focused much more on institutional factors beyond their control (such as the media) rather than on the party's positioning on issues?
Can you help me understand why so many Republicans -largely patriotic people- are not at all concerned about Trump’s “Long Live the King” post and other obvious moves towards installing himself as the long term leader of our nation? Thanks!
How do you see this ending for Trump. Clearly Congress went the impeachment route when there was actually a GOP with a pulse that could have effected a change, now it's laughable. Now what?
Gabe: I love the feature that ends each of your reports: i.e., what's on the day's calendar for each of the Three [?] Branches of government—please don't lose that.
A short while back you offered a statement of why you don't (yet) think we're in a "constitutional crisis". Could you repeat that definition from time to time, and maybe offer a brief feature, like the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists' "Doomsday Clock", indicating how near—or far—you think we are from such a crisis.
Perhaps more of an ethics question, but here goes. I was about to delete my Facebook account, For many reasons, including FBs stance on DEI and its political knee bending. But it occurred to me that maybe if many liberal leaning folks do the same, it might strengthen AI algorithms toward conservative leaning political posts including gross misinformation and disinformation. This could magnify the echo chamber of the far right. Am I overthinking this?

Gabe, Do you subscribe to any daily political newsletters? Which ones are the most reliable? (Politico, Axios, Puck, etc...) Thank you.
