This is what I so appreciate about WUTP. You do such a good job of breaking down the "shouting" into "This is what is under these numbers." This one was particularly interesting to me. Thanks Gabe.

Thank you, that means a lot!

But then scandal ridden Ken Paxton beats John Cornyn.

Yep, there are definitely exceptions to this trend and that is probably the most glaring one

I guess it's the exception that proves the rule. In Colorado we had a serious qualified state senator running for governor in the primary. Also running running was a MAGA election denier (as in all elections are corrupt, even the ones Republicans win, so extra MAGA) and an actual "howl at the moon" candidate who has no experience with elected office. Trump didn't endorse but outrage/wacko beat qualified/smart 60/40. And "howl at the moon" is on the ballot in November.

Yep, definitely agree that (like any trend) this one hasn’t held up in 100% of primaries this year or anything like that. I did think it was a trend worth nothing because I think it cuts against a lot of people’s assumptions, but there’s no doubt that those assumptions still prove correct in a chunk of races

I wonder how this breaks down in Democrat leaning states/districts vs Republican ones? Are the Trump endorsements still effective if the candidate is likely to lose the actual election? Or is it the other way around and the endorsements are more effective if the candidates are likely to prevail?

I love the election breakdowns, thank you!

Loved the "serious people" line.

It is always good to read something that shows, for the most part, Americans are still rational, and the closer the candidate is to them, the less tolerate they are of the outlandish and crazies, though there are always exceptions.

Nice job delving into these disparate Primaries ~ for us “civilians” it’s difficult to follow the intra-party hand-to-hand combat these days.

It will be interesting to see if either of the parties can reconcile their differences from these contests and move forward to the General election races. (I’m looking at you, Pillow Guy!) 😊

Wonderful assessment, Gabe.

It was a definite and very agreeable surprise to see a moron like Andy Ogles get pushed off the stage.

While the politicians shuffle around on the stage, Trumps felony convictions count is higher than his approval ratings. Republican voters are a lot less motivated to vote at all as their support for Trump slumps. Democratic voters are far more motivated. The swing in the Independent vote will probably decide it.
