This is exceptionally helpful. It is a straight-forward no nonsense deep dive that none of us really want to have to make. The linkage to amended laws is really well done, allowing one to see in side by side comparison what has happened. Well done!!

Gabe, you are amazing! Few of us would even think to analyze a major piece of legislation in this way. It brings home the complexity and breath of how our national government affects every part of life in the country and why many of the changes made in this bill will have a profound effect.

This is exceptional, and I am sharing it with friends and family. I appreciate the careful but easy to understand explanations, and this walk through the bill. And a perspective I hadn’t considered: “a crucial annual report written by employees of yours”. Thank you!

This is a huge public public service.

Sadly, in my current situation (by God's grace and dumb luck), my wife and I have little to worry about with OBBBA. In fact we'll likely end up saving a few thousand dollars on taxes vs what I had budgeted as estimated taxes this year. In less cynical times, I would have focused on just the benefits coming my way and wouldn't have bothered to understand the rest of the Bill in detail.

But this time, from reading several media stories and opinion/analysis articles, I believe that the negative impact on people who already have far less than we do is going to be so huge that it behooves me as an involved and responsible citizen to understand the rest of the bill (apart from the parts that affect me, almost entirely in a positive way) in detail.

So thank you for doing this, Gabe!

Wow Gabe, this is fantastic! Excellent idea and implementation. Thank you so much! I also recognize and admire your altruism in sharing this publicly, although I’d also like to note that as a paying subscriber, I would have very willingly paid extra for this content as I value the time and effort needed for this type of analysis and breakdown, and I highly value your precise, straight facts approach.

I can’t wait for the next installment!, this is the best!

I think it’s important for us to understand what’s in the bill. I haven’t seen anyone else go about it like this and much appreciate it. Looking forward to the rest.

Great job, Gabe. Looking forward to the next installments. Reading through the information about SNAP bothered me. I think SNAP benefits should be based on income and household size. I grew up in a large family. Both parents worked. We never partook of SNAP because my parents could handle the grocery bill. If my family had to be scrutinized in the manner outlined in this bill just to be able to eat would have made my parents very upset. I’m sure none of the wealthy would ever have to undergo such scrutiny in order to qualify for their tax breaks.

It's a little more than I can maintain my focus on, but it's certainly a lot of useful material, most of which I haven't seen elsewhere.

Very interesting, and I also appreciate the digestible bites of the elephant.

Some amounts are so massive that it's hard to grasp, while the tightening the screws on social support are hard to understand because they depend on individual circumstances. We've heard descriptions of the broad effects elsewhere, but I hope you'll do your own analysis of what this says about priorities and values. How many people are affected and to what extent? Who wins and who loses?

Very helpful! I’m curious how the farm loan interest rates (presumably set by Congress) compare to student loan interest rates (also set by Congress)?
