I would like to see information on the fraud found in USAID. If it really was so corrupt we should see the evidence. Thanks

These clowns -- including President Musk and Ayn Rand Paul -- don't realize that the Bloated Yam has never read and does not care about the Constitution.

Ha. Never discount the richest man in the world. Don’t think Trump isn’t wary of speaking out too loudly against him. In fact haven’t heard anything from Trump, since Elon calked out the bill for exactly what it is…..!! They are both despicable in their own endearing ways.

There is a new twist in fed reduction tactics, something worthy of some investigative reporting that requires some insight into which personnel actions can be easily challenged at MSPB. The latest tactic is "reassignment for resignation". In a traditional reduction, one has to go by priority, seniority, veterans with disability, etc., and one usually also needs cause such as record of poor performance. RIF'd feds are also supposed to get priority for hiring elsewhere, and would be eligible for unemployment. But agencies typically have strong rights and lots of discretion to reassign personnel anywhere in the world there's a slot. So, what you do is, take a bunch of otherwise senior employees, put them on paid admin leave and revoke access with zero info, then at some point announce they are being reassigned to some undesirable position in a remote location next week, regardless of personal or family circumstances, "take it or leave it". If you leave it, that's cause for disciplinary removal, which means you're fired with no seniority protections, no priority for re-hire, and ineligible for unemployment. You can challenge the removal at MSPB, but while there are a few cases where that worked, in general that's an uphill battle. You can accept the reassignment under protest and challenge it later, but also an uphill battle. It might be possible to get MSPB to entertain a challenge at the moment of reassignment by arguing that it's all pretextual and an attempt to circumvent the usual protections and RIF rules, and to ask for at least a dilatory injunction while the real motive is investigated, but that seems even more uphill at this point. Ask around, it's happening to people right now.

Very nice work, Gabe. A really great modern philosopher noted on Bill Maher about one year ago words to the effect, ‘False is easy; truth is complicated’

Thanks, for digging into the multiple facets of the truth!

You’re missing the play. Trump wants the cuts but needs the Big Beautiful Bill passed for the border wall & immigration provisions, the no tax on overtime and tips campaign promise and the permanent extension of the tax cuts (otherwise we see an average tax increase of 22%). Musk is the frontman, making a big deal about cutting costs while Trump gets his bill then both turn 100% attention to cut the waste and abuse. The $9B is just a trial balloon to see if congress has any stomach at all for cuts. It gets the ball rolling. Once the BB bill passes watch the fireworks fly on tax cuts. Musk and Trump planned this out….no doubt in my mind.

Should we look at the forest or the trees … The U.S. Institute of Peace appears to have morphed into an expensive travesty. Look beyond the coverage of the DOGE takeover. USIP was a waste of 55 million taxpayer dollars—a folly housed in a folly.

Gabe - You are a smart guy, and my question is not on this E/M topic, but right in your strike zone: What if Trump had won in 2020, and before the Supreme Court Presidential Immunity decision was made during that 2nd Term - how different (if any in your opinion) would a continuation of Trump 1 have been vs. the current Trump 2 version? Policies, Staff, Appointments, Federal staff and program cuts, his dealing with inflation, Covid, Ukraine, etc. Thanks.

I think that may be a bit too rosy a picture. Musk probably mostly got what he wanted. And they both gored the bureaucracy quite a bit. Getting it through legislative now may be, for them, less important.

The question that's easy to answer... Who murdered elons chances to redeem himself? drum role...Trump. We all saw what Elon couldn't, his head given over to Trump on a tin plated platter. Elon shall never regain global respect for the rest of his life. Best for Elon to go the way of Howard Hughes. Disappear. You won't be missed.
