Happy Monday, everyone! I want to kick this morning off with some personal news and two quick requests.
First, the news: Wake Up To Politics celebrated its 14th anniversary this weekend.
If you had asked me back in 2011, I certainly would not have said this newsletter would still be running 14 years later, as my full-time job out of college.
But your support has made that possible.
I am so grateful to everyone who reads Wake Up To Politics — all 56,000+ of you! — and to those who engage with the newsletter by commenting, giving feedback, and asking questions.
In this past year, I’ve graduated college; moved to Substack; covered all three branches of government, including receiving permanent credentials at the White House and Capitol; and brought you original reporting and analysis on a range of issues.
Last month, I sat in the House press gallery as President Trump delivered his address to a joint session of Congress, surrounded by reporters from every major mainstream outlet in the country. In a broad sense, the fact that an independent journalist like me could be sitting there is a testament to our changing media climate — but, in my particular case, it’s because so many of you have believed in me and given me the support and encouragement to keep reporting. I feel so lucky to work at my dream job every day and to be able to play a role in helping you understand your government.
Now, the requests. First off, if you’re able, I hope you’ll consider marking this anniversary by signing up for a paid subscription. It’s the best way to support Wake Up To Politics and to ensure I can keep sending the newsletter for many more years — and it’ll give you access to perks like the Sunday mailbag issues, exclusive author interviews, and more.
Second, I’ve put together a survey to better understand what readers are looking for from Wake Up To Politics. Help me help you! This post-grad year has been a fun opportunity to experiment with different things here at WUTP and try to broaden the horizons of what I can offer readers. But I want to know what’s working and what isn’t.
Click here to take this quick survey to give your feedback.
I really appreciate your help making WUTP the best it can be! Here’s that survey link again if you’re able to spend just a few minutes letting me know what you like and don’t like about the newsletter.
Thank you so much for your support,
Gabe
