Regarding voter registration legalities, late last week Oregon reported that its automatic voter registration from driver licenses led to approximately 300 non-citizens being registered. Only 2 are known to have cast ballots.
This is a loose system not fully thought through and poorly implemented. Even if quantitatively it does not change election outcomes, it gives ammunition to those arguing for proof of citizenship in order to register.
Thanks for the education on the SAVE Act, Gabe, and for the links to More News to Know. I’ve asked this question before; how do you vet your news sources? I read everything from The Wall Street Journal to the New York Times, including The Economist and The Atlantic. I don’t regularly watch broadcast news. Any time I reference a particularly enlightening piece of journalism to a friend or family member who aligns with MAGA politics, I am scolded to “wake up” to the biases of mainstream news. On the topic of illegal voting, they continue to insist that Democrats encourage illegal immigration to benefit from the votes. How does one verify truth in reporting?

Regarding Secret Service protection of Trump…why on earth isn’t a drone employed to scout the perimeter of the golf course? Work smarter!

The Brazilian debate, reminded me of some of the cudgeling that took place in the House and Senate a couple of centuries or less ago.
