One crucial move for control is the “SAVE America act”: 9. 🧩 THE REAL STRATEGY: SHRINK THE ELECTORATE, EXPAND POWER, ROLL BACK RIGHTS

When you combine:

• Citizenship documentation requirements

• Citizenship‑proof ID at the polls

• Mail‑in voting choke points

• Criminal penalties for registration workers

• Gendered barriers for name‑changed women

• Anti‑trans add‑on demands

• A threat to freeze all governance until the bill passes

You get the real architecture:

This is not an election bill.

This is a power‑consolidation bill. (Source: https://substack.com/@lalisastands)

I’m in favor of “reasonable” voter ID requirements but as I have learned more about the SAVE Act it is far from reasonable. I learned that my Real ID MD Driver’s License would not be acceptable proof because in MD they don’t specify if you are a citizen. And my military aid wouldn’t work either. I would need to bring along my DD 214 to prove citizenship. But wait, the DD 214 does not include proof of citizenship. I would need to need a to bring my passport which I do have. But if you don’t, sorry come back in 4-5 weeks it takes to one, or to get a “certified” copy of your birth certificate. But then, every one carries a copy of their certified birth certificate with them so that shouldn’t be a problem. 😳

It's an interesting angle that seems true, and I haven't seen it stated elsewhere. I also enjoyed the (Madison vs Hamilton) history lesson.

Nice to have such a well researched perspective on trumpian attempts at control.

In one of your articles you’ve compared Trump to other past presidents on a specific issue. Is there any American president who has done as many of his extreme views and actions in their presidency? Or just on a one or two item comparison??

In trying to explain Trump’s motivation for starting the War in Iran, Stephen Holmes, co-author of The Light that Failed, suggests in Project Syndicate Trump’s “presentism.” That is, his desire to demonstrate that, here and now, he’s the strongest man on the map. He’s courageous where other presidents were not in taking out Maduro and the Iranian leadership. He may not play by time honored rules of law or even rules of engagement; he’s far superior to be bound thereby. Moreover, tomorrow is of little concern. If the US leaves Iran without control of its leadership, its nuclear fissile material, or even control of the Strait, that’s for another day - and perhaps another president. For now, “I am the king.” Tomorrow, perhaps he’s the King of Cuba.

“Too true, Mr President” made me genuinely laugh aloud.

The death of Ali Larijani, assumed by Israel, murdered, probably the only pragmatic individual in the Iranian power structure. He had no side, per se, his goal was Iran, which could go in any number of ways. With him gone, Iran is far more likely to become more violent and angry, then even considering seeking any form of peace. Alas.

Some of us are old enough to remember when parents were instructed to expose their children to “red” and German measles since the ramifications of those diseases on adults (German measles to pregnant women for example) were considered to be more serious. “Objective facts” are slippery things especially with respect to health and medical advice. Pros and cons to all procedures should be set out in plain language. The experts have enough influence in making certain procedures free.

Judges are not required to exhibit naiveté but there should be a very high bar with respect to an inference of malice or harassment for both government and private lawsuits. One can look at the overblown rhetoric of any number of climate action lawsuit plaintiffs and infer malice or harassment. Judge Boasberg was careful to look at the evidence in conjunction with the rhetoric. Not all judges are that careful. (There was, for example, hard evidence against Letitia James.) This lack of care is a symptom of TDS.

Although Biden in 2012 did not comply with the APA when he instituted DACA, Trump’s recission of DACA was ruled improper because he did not comply with the APA. Go figure. I think the terms of DACA that pass muster are still in the courts. No kudos for saying the Trump administration would have trouble with the APA. Anyone who has had even a brief encounter with the APA would recognize that it is full of procedural trip wires.

Thank you for your history lesson. Helvid was a real person.

What IS TDS? Which comes first? When a person acts illegally, unethically, immorally, dishonorably, without integrity, dishonestly, and then decent, normal, intelligent Americans REJECT that behavior each & every time? I submit vehemently that TDS is named eponymously for the former above, he owns it, as any disease that is named after the sufferer.
