What concerns me primarily about Mr Trump, Musk, plus the rest of the cronies ( and you know who they are) is the lack of character. Policies can be overturned, folks rehired but when you have a leader without any regard for the truth, has a history of cheating, not only with his marriages, but in business and yet folks have drank the kool-aid, gulping it down , we are in serious trouble. I listened to grown women comparing him to God, the blood on his ear to Jesus’ blood, and a myriad of additional psychotic utterances. In regard to Musk, Ketamine has serious side effects and he is displaying them. I cannot speak about Vance without developing a tick.
I am beginning to believe we are more uneducated than I thought; one example, who pays the tariffs, seller or buyer, who has the last word; the president or the courts? It’s a mess
So suddenly we have hundreds (thousands?) of jobless Americans. Have we simply increased the number of people on unemployment? On government assistance? Have they lost health insurance? It appears as though we've moved them from government pay for working to government assistance for NOT working!! Or just thrown them out on the streets. What a mess.
While I understand your wanting to be non-partisan in all you say, when the president lies about something or is breaking the law by his actions, please call a spade a spade!
I'm terrified about all of these layoffs and can't help but feel like our entire government is about to crumble to pieces. Are there any glimmers of hope that maybe it's not as bad as it seems??
Any downsizing is painful and messy. Public sector employees, especially if they are unionized, and even if they are in a probationary status have multiple, and often overlapping, avenues to contest termination If they are unionized, there are complex bumping rights. The Trump/Elon methodology seems to insure turmoil and lawsuits. I cannot understand why the administration did not institute a hiring freeze and stick with its requirement that employees work in person and hold off on additional measures until they had some numbers of voluntary departures. I was involved with the downsizing attempt by Gov. Weld in MA, I think he effected a 12% reduction in personnel but only a few years later the workforce had gained back the reduction and had increases.
The total dismantling of our government is frightening enough since both the unemployment rolls and the unqualified people at the helm of many of the departments are increasing at break-neck speed BUT I am concerned that we are not only being bulldozed but a lot of the bombastic comments and moves coming from DJT are only a distraction from the "underbelly" of his goal to create an authoritarian government with him in the seat of Fascist in Chief. Where is Congress? Where are the courts? Where are the real Republicans (not MAGA's)? There is likely a "tipping point" (admittedly, I don't know where that is) when going back isn't an option. How do we stop this insanity?
