Gabe - Thanks for reminding us that there is other news - other than news about Trump.

I appreciate this weekly congressional update; thank you! We know Trump has no interest in working through Congress (clearly preferring executive orders), but it is the third branch of government and the work they do matters.

Also, a fetus might survive a late term abortion, not because it is "botched". Fetal anomalies or medical complications can result in a late term abortion. There are elective abortions and spontaneous abortions (miscarriages), that might find a fetus breathing, that would receive medical support.

You failed to mention the Dems DID support an Immigration bill in 2024 that was a bipartisan bill that Trump killed to benefit his election. Now he can claim a "victory".

Ratcliff was approved as Director of CIA not DNI, for a moment you gave me hope that we had avoided Gabbard as DNI

Love the last note about Steve King. And yes the orange guy and his nefarious sidekicks are going full bore on the immigration thing. And I think most Americans forget they come from immigrant stock unless they are 100% Native Americans or all of their ancestors came on slave ships. They also have little understanding of the lack of immigration laws during the time period their ancestors came or at how abysmally broken our current laws are. I would suggest a full history lesson and an analysis of the supposedly legal immigration process today (not thru the asylum process). Both could use some factual information. Lots of folks think that you simply apply go through some investigation and a year or two later you come to the country, get a green card study for the test(which most native born Americans couldn’t pass) and get sworn in. They have no idea of the process or the years and expense and hoops required. Think about doing a short series on the topic

There is abundant information available about the system. The problem is that the system is a patchworked morass which vies for complexity with the tax laws. The federal bureaucracy must disclose verifiable numbers for immigrant visas and best estimate for those in the asylum process for the last decade. Then visa numbers should be modified until the government clears the backlogs. A “full history lesson” would reveal that the American people were duped by the 1965 reform with respect to both numbers and demographic effect..

Would love for you to share some of the sources that provide abundant info. I know it’s a morass and worse than the tax laws (fyi I’m a retired tax cpa who specialized in pass through entities and corporations). Those at least have some semblance of cohesive underlying theory. Any suggestions on folks who can actually bring it to light would be very much appreciated. TYIA

Immigration 101 available on You Tube sponsored by braverangels.org (a group of which I am a member which fosters civil discussion of politics) For history: a podcast by David Leonhardt, also on You Tube, An Immigration System Most Americans Never Wanted. I also strongly recommend Leonhardt’s Ours Was The Shining Future. Your conclusions may not agree with mine but these are good, objective sources.
