During Trump's public appearances in recent weeks he appears more and more rambling, repetitive and unable to stick to a cohesive line of thought. He goes off topic and rants about the latest social media blather. His obsession with former President Biden, childish name-calling and dispensing rewards and punishments is alarming. He's falling asleep at important meetings after spending all night texting about just about everything! His cabinet heap praise on him while politely ignoring these dangerous signs that he may not be able to complete the duties of his office in a competent way.
BTW: I'm not being agist. I'm 78 years old and sensitive to all these signs of aging and what it means when a person should be relieved of, or remove themselves from certain responsibilities. I'm happy when someone his age is doing such an important job, but worried that he is so focused on how young and vigorous he still is that his judgment is impaired.
My questions are: Can you identify the adults in the administration who may be able to mitigate his raging childnessness and impulses? To make him get off his phone and get sufficient rest to overcome somewhat that which befalls all who are fortunate to live a long, productive life? Why isn't everyone, of all political leanings, worried about this???? Why are congressional Republicans and the Supreme Court not asserting their responsibilities, and instead letting the impaired executive branch run willy-nilly over norms and rules? What are they afraid of?
Please address Trump’s attack of the Somali people in Minnesota! Also how can Trump /ICE get away with detaining migrants who have legal papers and even ones with American citizenship??
What are the deliberations behind some of these unusual pardons? I assume in past administrations there was a formal process and some lobbying from interest groups or personal contacts. Who would want to pardon the ex-Honduran president and how would they get his name on a list for Trump to even see? Is it as simple as pardoning anyone prosecuted by the Biden administration?
I’m curious about party leaders and leaderships styles that have been successful/unsuccessful with each party in the past. How much influences does leadership have on shaping the pipeline of future candidates (presidential, congress or otherwise)? Who “decides” who gets the party’s backing and is it as much puppeteering by a few individuals as it’s made out to be in the movies?
I thought the House Republicans could oust Mike Johnson with only 1 Republican bringing it to the floor for a vote. I keep hearing about how many Republicans are unhappy with him. I’m wondering why they aren’t invoking this process to oust him as they did with Kevin McCarthy?
How are people not yelling about the price of food and goods with tarriffs that are wrecking their whole income. A nice middle class framer gets the gilded and carved woods to make custom frames such a bad incease in cost that he cannot find any solutions to solvencyl Why are not people at all interested in the The Big Beautiful Wall and most of all where are all the manufacturing sites across the America to help be self sustaining?
I would like to learn more about proportional representation which is a system used in many countries to elect their representatives. Gerrymandering is a mess and could lead us to an end point with only red and blue states. Plus, I think a multiparty system should be encouraged, not the two party one we have currently.
How often do war crimes prosecutions happen? How many have been successful? It’s hard to imagine anyone actually being punished in this administration — I wonder if it’s also rare historically.
After listening to the President’s interactions with the Press; his bonkers level of “truthing” over the holiday weekend; and his behavior / engagement at the recent Cabinet Meeting, I am very concerned.
Is there any facility, other than the VP & Cabinet invoking the 25th Amendment, to validate / verify his ability to serve?
Hi Gabe. I've been listening to the Audible version of Michelle Obama's Becoming. I'm saddened by the stark difference between the American triumph of electing our first African American president, with his brilliant mind and passion for community service, to… this. And I wonder how it happened. It seems to me that the Democratic party has wildly dropped the ball
My question is, is it likely that the party leaders will get their act together and focus on finding someone who has that combination of brilliance, empathy, and personality to present for 2028?
I would like to understand the Supreme Court reasoning for allowing Texas to allow the 'gerrymandering' to give Texas 5 more representatives. I know you talked about it before but the lower court ruled against changing the map, so what gives with the Supreme Court ruling against the lower court? It feels like the Supreme Court keeps shooting down the lower court rulings and I'm not sure if it's legit or partisanship in the justices.
I also like to know what issues are being brought up in discharge petitions - I am relieved Congress is still functioning.
In light of your piece about the potential large voter shift away from Republicans, is Trump’s gerrymandering effort looking wrongheaded? If Democrats win big enough, this effort won’t stop them. And in return, it could anger swing voters. Thoughts?
Jerry Lenz, I'm all too familiar with the devastation brought by illegal drugs and agree we need to work hard to block them. However, I also believe in due process and not killing what could be innocent people. That should be appalling to everyone, as should detaining random people while wearing masks, and transporting people to random countries that could be dangerous.

Always a lively one sided argument

Opinion
I am in favor of deporting Alian criminals and those with recent criminal history. The rest should be allowed to stay.
I think bombing these drug boats is a good idea.

Why do the Speaker and Majority Leader have such outsized power? What can be done to limit this, besides discharge petitions?
