I am getting a lot of requests from nonprofits such as PBS to send emails or sign petitions to my senators and representatives regarding the current budget bill, Is that doing any good?

Just curious to know why generally most reporters don't "challenge" or "rebut" the President when he lies? Is it because the reporter will face repercussions such as banishment?

Gabe, I keep hearing that Congress has not declared war since WWII. Why does this reporting ing ignore the AUMF (Authorized Use of Military Force) in 1991 for the first Gulf War, 2001 for Afghanistan and 2002 for Iraq. The latter two were also supported by Public Law 107-243. I agree that for all to many military actions we did not have Congressional authorization, especially Korea, Vietnam and so many others but Congress appears to have done its job in these three cases, even if we disagree with the decisions in retrospect.

In todays political climate How can we tell who is telling the truth about anything. Can we trust the president? the Congress? etc. It seems everyone has their own interest in mind and slants the truth in that direction.I am totally confused!

Are any members of congress asking for the unidentified and allegedly “ICE” agents to prove they are legit and demand these agents must show their credentials when detaining targeted people ?

The leaked classified report on the US bombings suggests that Iran's progress has only been set back by about 3 months. While your point about Trump's having won the PR battle over the ayatollah is cogent, does this mean that he will be in trouble in a few months when Iran gets a weapon? And does this make his strike seem purely performative?

As a former government employee who worked 3 decennial counts, I have been hearing of several surprising changes which are being made in the 2030 Census...... Please note that the preliminaries for this have started. 1). Only citizens and legal residents will be counted, 2) the legwork for determining occupied structures is going to be done by USPS.

The Census is to count ALL residents. This will/would cause some monumental changes in governing.

What do you know????

Early childhood education in childcare and preschool programs provide a foundation for the adults in the family to go to work and the children to develop their executive functions and problem-solving, all necessary for a country to thrive. Do you see any possibility of politicians working across the aisle to support Early Childhood education so these programs can continue to be supported by the federal government?

Is there any indication yet if the Senate is going to abide by the Senate parliamentarian's ruling on what can and can't be in the 1BBB?

What will be the likely timeline and pushback (lawsuits, etc) to selling public lands? Does the “public” have any avenue to stopping such sales since we, theoretically, own these lands??

What effect did Biden admin’s military support to Israel have on the current situation given that you mentioned one of the key factors was degradation of Iran’s proxies and weapons systems? I imagine transferring all that military gear to Israel 2023 onwards helped the leadership bomb Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

Given the transition of the Democratic and Republican bases - with more low and moderate income voters going Republican and more college-educated voters going Democrat, I am wondering if the One Big Beautiful Bill might financially benefit Democrats more than Republicans - if not in number of voters benefitted than maybe in total dollar benefits. Has anyone taken the estimates on the bill's cost/benefit by income level and tried to map it to the Democrat/Republican base?

Today on substack Pete Buttigieg talked about the dangers of AI, and I’ve heard others describe it as another tool to teach people how to use judiciously. Any comments you have about that would be really interesting.
