Wake Up To Politics - January 20, 2014

Hello, good morning, and Happy Martin Luther King Day! Today, to honor the holiday and the man himself, there will be no edition of Wake Up To Politics published. Just a few things quickly:

I wanted to put the President's schedule in since I usually do in the Wake Up. I assume because he is not reading his Wake Up today, President Obama will be taking time to preform a service project in the D.C. area honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. You can join him by finding a service project in your area on MLKDay.gov.

I myself will be in downtown St. Louis, at the Old Courthouse where the Dred Scott case was first heard, for the civic ceremony and the city's official MLK Day celebration.

If you can't go to a service project or a celebration, Wake Up To Politics ecnoruages you to listen to some of Dr. King's inspiring words, either the I Have a Dream speech (which you can find in the August 28 Wake Up), his Nobel acceptance speech, the Letter from the Birmingham Jail, or really anything else.
At the very least, refrain from going to Macy's or Gap and participate in the MLK Day sale.
