Yep! The video of Al Gore, who certified his own election loss in the same session, is worth watching — including gaveling down objections from fellow Democrats after the very tight contest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyn6VB2HN_g. Nixon (1960) and Mondale (1984) are other recent VPs who certified their loss; George HW Bush (1988) got the rare pleasure of being able to certify his own victory.

Hi Anne, thanks for writing and for reading WUTP. There is no evidence that Republican-leaning pollsters are meaningfully impacting polling averages one way or the other: https://split-ticket.org/2024/10/29/are-gop-leaning-pollsters-biasing-the-averages/. There is no evidence of the fact that Peter Thiel’s investment in Polymarket, which has retained Nate Silver as an adviser, has played any role in Silver’s modeling of the 2024 election, which is largely based off of an algorithm he created 16 years ago, long before Polymarket existed.
Gabe, you're the best, as always – thank you!
Thanks for reading!
I never thought about how Kamala is the sitting VP and is the one who has to certify the vote on Jan 6! That's trippy to think about.
Thanks for all this info. This is exactly what I needed today as I cannot think about anything else as I'm waiting for the polls to close.

A day of mourning over results.
What can we learn from this?
What are the real underlying fears and needs of people that voted this way?
The big lie didn’t matter…. The criminality of his behavior didn’t matter… the insults to veterans and disadvantaged didn’t matter…
Is the real issue that people need social change to happen only after they have had input?
Thoughts?
Thank you, Gabe. The ride, these few months, have been eye-opening. Forward - the only way to continue the ride.
Troubleshooting needed. I’m subscribed but the link failed … I was blocked with a message I need to subscribe.
Gabe:
If you're going to be commentating to large numbers of people, you need to do more digging:
-- You are not mentioning the over 100 biased polls that the Trump team has paid for and dumped into the polling mix.
-- You are not mentioning the financial connection between Elon Musk > Peter Thiel > Polymarket/Nate Silver
You owe your readers a better understanding of what's REALLY going on, that mainstream media isn't reporting on.

I don't believe in coincidence, do you?
