A third possibility is that nominating someone for a post knowing that they won't be confirmed is an cheap and easy way to reward someone with an outsized laurel without actually giving it to them. I wouldn't put it past the Trump team to have nominated Ghalib without any intention of him getting confirmed.
Why do grown men insist on “ humoring “ the supposed leader of the free world. Why not tell the overgrown child, you CANNOT RUN for a third time. It’s actually pathetic.
I hope these GOP "quiet breaks" with the President become loud and explosive and get the attention of republican folks who are acting like mindless minions.
This is not my prose but sometimes am reminded when I read about Rep rebukes of Trump (after the real world correction about impeachment dynamics and norms)
"President Trump, beware the towering rage and anger of your party's representatives in Congress as they mutter quietly and anonymously to a reporter while looking around furtively to see if anyone sees them talking to said reporter.
Once this beast slips its leash, I fear for his immortal soul."

Trump is flooding the zone with his talk of running, or no running, for a third term
The Constitution and laws have never stopped him before
I heard ICE agents are still getting paid during the shutdown; is this true? If so, how?

Only one year until midterms… what are the chances Republicans maintain control of Congress?
Can you give us an update on the Autopen investigation? Seems like this story has legs.
