How is it Gabe can clearly articulate the 3 possible reasons for tariffs and show that they are all at odds with one another and yet the Harvard econ grad advisors can't craft a meaningful approach? Perhaps it has something to do with them assuming that American cars like the Armada, Suburban, Expedition, King Ranch F350's etc. will find parking places on the streets of Florence, Tokyo, Beijing...

Because they are sycophantic, power hungry men who have to deliver some explanation for the cameras so we know their spinal cords are attached to their brains. Their leader met with Laura Loomer, who everyone knows is a right wing, off the charts nut. She directed Trump to fire long standing men in our national security division and HE DID IT, BECAUSE SHE SAID THEY WERE NOT LOYAL. WHO would work for this man. .? As I said, folks wanting power. Rubio is a gutless hypocrite and why democrats voted for him is beyond my ability to comprehend reality.

I've been ranting a lot too, Barbara, and I could easily agree with your's, but my approach has shifted from ranting to cynicism. That has me making observations like this one about our gas guzzling beasts that other countries won't import (as opposed to observing the apparent "gutless" and "sycophantic", "off the chart nuts". Regardless, I 'liked' your reply ( the passive eager within me:-).......

I love your reply. I am a bit ( just a little) ashamed of my rhetoric for one reason……I am beginning to sound like a mean, petty politicians , like Trump and Vance. I had to laugh at Maria Bartitromos ( sp?) outrage that Europe isn’t buying our autos like you mentioned. Now, Piro ( you know, the infamous judge) is saying the same thing. I will remain cynical, rather than obnoxious….👍🏻

It’s complete bs. Navarro and musk are in disagreement….Navarro and the Commerce secretary differ on the whys and hows of the tariffs . Trump is in revenge mode and Congressional republicans are cowards. The markets here and around the world do not respond well to uncertainty and cowardice. And everyone just keeps blabbing

Hi! Not sure this is on your radar. Libraries in the United States are in a fight with their State Governments as well as the Trump administration to keep their funding. One of the few States to support Libraries, Ohio, is having its budget cut drastically by state representatives when The Governor increased its funding in his proposal. Considering all the things libraries do for people aside from Literacy and finding books, how can we let the government understand that funding is crucial to continue these services? In Ohio we have taken on roles to assist social services in addition to our traditional roles.

Great reporting not withstanding, I’m just bewildered how this is all happening. C’mon. Anyone who posts stuff like Trump does day after day is basically an unstable, glorified used car salesman. Hard to take this man seriously, but now we find ourselves an unwilling captive country to his stupidity, name-calling, and reckless behavior. Trump: “Don’t be Weak! Don’t be Stupid! Don’t be a PANICAN (A new party based on Weak and Stupid people!). Be Strong, Courageous, and Patient, and GREATNESS will be the result!” (Translation: Go ahead, buy the car! You’ll be great and look great in it!)

The Abrago-Garcia case is confusing. I am assuming he is from El Salvador. Does an immigration judge have the right to rule that someone should be deported but to some country other than his home country? What country wants to take in a gang member? What are the reasons he would be subject to harm in El Salvador? Does he have criminal charges pending in El Salvador?

If we face a Constitutional crisis over immigration, the blame, in my opinion, lies with Congress which has ducked its responsibility for reform for 50 years (dating from 1975 when the flaws in the ‘65 reform became apparent.)
