Every time President Trump files frivolous lawsuit against NY Times, and others. I assume that the US taxpayer pays for it. Wondering what the total cost of unnecessary lawsuits have been. Of course, GAO that would tell us this information has been dismantled. The bureau of labor statistics employee who gave Trump the bad labor numbers has been fired.

Also what if any is there a chance that Robert Kennedy will be recalled due to his incompetence? Basically Louisiana Rep Kennedy could have vetoed his nomination but did not because he fears Trump.

First: Sinking Venezuelan boats without an official declaration of war (must come from congress) can’t be an Official Act, and should be a crime, even after the Supreme Court ruling. Prosecutable?

Second: Three consecutive unhinged speeches—Chequers, Kirk Funeral, and UN—seem to be pretty strong evidence of cognitive impairment/mental incapacity. 25th Amendment?

Thanks

Maxwell met with Blanche, then got transferred to a Federal minimum security prison. That prison has restrictions against sex-offenders being housed there. There must be a paper trail . . . either the minimum security warden requesting her transfer or the Florida prison warden requesting her transfer and the minimum security prison warden accepting the request. The House Oversight Committee should subpoena those transfer records and both wardens and have them testify who ordered the transfer. If it came from the White House, subpoena them also. Also, there's no mention of the transfer in the transcript of Blanche and Maxwell's meetings. Have that recording analyzed to see if the recording was stopped and not all the discussion captured. Subpoena Blanche too. It's just too fishy.

What are your thoughts about the new Pentagon policy, where journalists could be required to sign a document pledging that they will not gather or use any information that has not been formally authorized for release—even if it isn’t classified? Previously, journalists were permitted to "move freely through the hallways, gathering unclassified information from both military and civilian sources. The new policy restricts their movement, confining them to a specific space and requiring them to be escorted to other parts of the building. Pete Hegseth’s Department of Defense has said that journalists who violate the new policy are at risk of losing their press credentials."

I am one of your readers who took issue with your condemnation of a column Heather Cox Richardson wrote about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. According to you she was passing on misinformation. So what is your basis for calling the ICE attack in Texas politically motivated? Last I heard his brother said the shooter was not into politics and he was a Registered Independent. Maybe he didn't like what ICE was doing, but how does that automatically make it political?

Do you really believe it when these shootings happen and Kash Patel's FBI claim leftist etchings are on the bullet casings?

Do you have any advice for how the Democratic Party should structure the presidential selection process? Televised debates right off the bat only seem to create soundbites and veiled personal attacks...is there some other way to communicate some unity and clarify philosophy/platform?

...and then there is the money thing ie. constant asks with all the cutoffs and deadlines...blahh

First time commenter. I am a long-time subscriber to the New York Times in large part because I want to support quality journalism. I am very disappointed in their clickbait headlines and normalization of the Trump administration's historic dismantling of democratic norms. Press Watch (https://presswatchers.org/2025/09/is-the-new-york-times-finally-getting-real-about-trump/) recently noted a possible change in their coverage. Do you see the same thing either at the NYT or elsewhere?

There is an ever-increasing number of individuals who have either had to go to court to defend themselves against unconstitutional actions by this administration or defend themselves against frivolous lawsuits by Trump and/or this administration. Do they ever have the opportunity to recover legal expenses for such frivolous lawsuits or such unconstitutional actions?

Second question: Why are we not hearing more about former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi's role in the Jeffrey Epstein "get out of jail free" sweetheart deal? Alex Acosta is getting a lot of scrutiny but why not Bondi?

Hello Gabe, As I have aged, I have become more hung up on the little things that appear meaningless but seem to have more meaning to me, and thus have affected how I express myself. For example, I have forced myself to stop using the word “Honestly” at the beginning of a sentence or in conversations since I now feel if I don’t use it every time then the rest of what say isn’t honest.

The reason I am writing for the first time is that in today’s WUTP this sentence got to me: “2025 marks the first time in more than 30 years that left-wing attacks outnumber those from the far right.” Should not the former Georgetown professors rather stated: …30 years that (FAR) left-wing attacks….those from the far-right wing, or ….that left-wing attacks….from the right-wing? I know that sounds petty, but in this political era every word counts. Using “far” with only one wing of a political party actually continues the political prejudice in my opinion.

Thanks for all you do. I rely on only a few sources for the truth. You are one.

What can we do about the Supreme Court? They are changing the laws which is the function of Congress which is supposed to be a viable entity.

While there is a flood of coverage about high profile violence like the killing of Charlie Kirk or the shooting at the ICE facility in Dallas, there are many more small acts of ideological violence across the country. Recent examples are the school shooting in Colorado the same day as Kirk’s assassination or the arson at a Jewish facility in Florida, both carried out by young men with white supremacist leanings. Can you address the persistent problem of young, radicalized young men who commit violence across the political spectrum?

If tariffs ended today, how long would it take for prices to come back down? I suspect the answer would be never. Once prices rise, they tend to stay there. Just ask Home Depot about their lumber prices from several years ago. Corp execs counted on consumers becoming accustomed to higher prices - let the profits roll! Cynicism aside, I would expect businesses to try to recoup some of the haircut they took with the tariffs.
