Travel Tracker Cattle Calls: Iowa Potential and announced GOP presidential candidates will descend on Iowa today for the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Spring Kickoff in Waukee, Iowa this Saturday.
The cattle call gives the candidates an excuse to visit Iowa, and gains them favor with conservative Christian groups like the Faith & Freedom Coalition.
All three of the major GOP announced candidates – Rand Paul, Marco Rubio (making his first trip to Iowa as a candidate), and Ted Cruz – will be joined by potential candidates Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, and Rick Santorum at the event.
Noticeably absent will be Jeb Bush, who has had trouble connecting in Iowa, largely based off of his support for Common Core.
While in Iowa for the Faith & Freedom event this weekend, most of the candidates will be holding other events in Iowa: Paul will hold a rally in Grinnell and speak at the American Legion in Vinton; Jindal will speak at a dinner in Oskaloosa and hold a Meet & Greet in Ottuma; Fiorina will speak to students at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge; Santorum will hold Meet & Greet’s in Knoxville and Indianola; Walker will hold events across the state, including ones with Reps. Rod Blum and David Young.
Cattle Call: Nevada After speaking in Iowa, many candidates will fly over to Las Vegas and kiss the ring of casino mogul and GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson, who is the biggest backer of the Republican Jewish Coalition, holding its Spring Leadership Meeting this weekend.
Cattle Call: South Carolina A number of potential Democratic presidential candidates are heading to the first-in-the-South primary state this weekend for the South Carolina Democratic Party Convention.
Former Govs. Lincoln Chafee (RI) and Martin O’Malley (MD), both exploring runs for President, will speak at the convention, as well as Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who will speak on behalf of candidate Hillary Clinton, and David “Mudcat” Saunders, on behalf of former Sen. Jim Webb (VA), who is also considering running.
